- Employ both legs uniformly and set faster - Refer to 9:05
- Keep your knees tighter when leaning towards the puck - Refer to 11:45

People have different styles I think it’s good to drill everything leaning absorbing it and sticking them arms out I used to play ball hockey with no chest protector so I made sure I caught it or blocked it. I’m sure there’s old school road ball hockey goalies that did it as well

I just turned 46. I grew up in Northeast Jersey and there wasn't an ice hockey program in my area. The best I could get was street hockey and then a few years of inline from age 17-22. Joined the Marines and took many years off. 2 years ago at 44 I found an ice hockey program geared towards older beginners. Back in the day we didn't use the butterfly style really. It was a very steep learning curve but I've been at it both ice and inline again for a couple of years now and am getting pretty good. Luckily my reflexes and puck tracking are still on point. But I just wanted to say your school is definitely producing the cream of the crop and those kids are blessed to have that kind of instruction. I know if I did I'd be retired from the NHL by now. Haha.... Keep up the good work. 👍🏼

This is excellent training. When I was a kid in the 90s, I went to the Okanogan Hockey School a couple times. It was ok, but I didn't get nearly this level of instruction. I felt like we were there more for the benefit of the skaters. It was a very different game back then. No one ever taught me how to do a butterfly, for instance. No wonder I didn't make the NHL , lol. Now I'm 40ish and I play shinny ball hockey once a week. The other regular goalie is 20, is in great shape, has fancy new gear, and his knees and hips still work. So I'm watching all these videos trying make myself more competitive against that whippersnapper.

Best of luck! Im 22 myself and I played in a competitive ball hockey league growing up (as a defensemen). However, stopped after I was 18, nowadays I just play road hockey with a bunch of buddies. Since I'm the one of the only few wanting to be goalie, I always watch random videos on youtube to get a better sense of the position. Dahan's videos seem to be the best. My goal is to transition from road hockey goalie to some low level beer league ball hockey goalie. Haha anyway cheers!

I strongly agree that all practice should be as game situational as possible, so when I see goalies practicing positional moves (not just in-place up and downs, etc) with the goal halfway to the corner, I don't think it's a good idea for the players, although I understand why you do it that way for the coaching and/or video convenience of not having two groups on different ends of the rink.

shooting thumb up is good, but should also learn thumb down shooting. I learned old school and can shoot a puck half way down ice till it hits.. It's a lost art, but comes in handy when playing off the boards - which is another lost art. good video thou, played for 30 years plus..

Great information, I learned a few key things I’ve been doing wrong from this video from C cuts and only using one leg to stop not both to share the load ( how I will remember it is that key word share the load ) too make sure to move the body and not your arms to reach for the saves.
